My name is McKenzie Kostura and I am a senior at Elon University majoring in Public Health with a focused minor in Spanish. The past three summers I had the opportunity to work as a Volunteer Services and Operations Management intern with Durham Parks and Recreation. This involved recruiting, coordinating, and assisting with youth volunteers in training as well as fostering relationships with nonprofits and other agencies across Durham. This included a broad and diverse group ranging from the Diaper Bank to Meals on Wheels. I obtained the Red Cross babysitting certification when I was 12 and babysat regularly for several families from junior high through high school. In high school, I worked as the Youth Coordinator for AA Support Groups in the Roanoke Valley of Virginia. I coordinated childcare services for two support group meetings per week, managed schedule for team of three childcare providers, and primarily organized activities Read more and games for children ages 6 weeks to 12 years. I am currently certified in Basic Lifesaving Skills/CPR.
