Hi! My name is Michaela McDonald, and I am an 18 year old freshmen, attending the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. I was born and raised in a small town just outside of Buffalo, New York, called Grand Island. Back home I was involved in many activities, clubs, and volunteer work. I also maintained a job as a waitress, worker in a boutique, substitute for a day care, partner in opening a Cheerleading Clinic, and of course, a babysitter. I also got my license to be a lifeguard about a year and a half ago, and did some substitute lifeguarding over the summers. On top of all of these I had the privilege of attending the number one high school in Western New York, Nardin Academy. One of the main volunteer I did was work was coaching my town’s recreational cheerleading team which took up about 11 hours of Read more my week. I volunteered as a coach for 4 years, two years with 4th and 5th graders, and two with 6th, 7th, and 8th graders. This experience helped me grow by allowing me to learn how to relate to the girls while also maintaining authority. I have been babysitting for about 7 years now. I have worked with all different personalities, ages, and I have even worked with an autistic boy. Having worked with a variety of different children has made me comfortable in any situation. I believe it to be very important to keep the kids active while watching them. I love doing crafts, playing board games, and playing outside if the weather allows. I think the reason that I love watching children, is because I cherish their innocence, and love becoming connected with them. I find it amazing being able to watch the children grow into who they will soon become.
