Hi families! My name is Kathleen, and I am looking for occasional babysitting jobs in the Durham area. In college (2011-2014), I worked as a summer camp counselor for the Austin Nature & Science Center with kiddos 7-9 years old, then went on to work full time as a preschool teacher for two years with kiddos 3-5 years old. I was also the preschool's extracurricular coordinator and soccer coach! I returned to school in 2016 to get my Master's in Psychology in Education, and am now completing my PhD in clinical psychology. Throughout these years, I have regularly babysat for neighbors, family including 5 adorable nieces and nephews, and friends. I have had training in play-based psychotherapy for kids and have taken many classes on developmental psychology. I do not have kids of my own, but my husband and I look forward to starting our family as soon as I Read more finish up grad school! Outside of school, I'm a huge nature lover - hikes, critters, rocks, sunsets, and more - and love encouraging kids to get outside and explore the magical world around us! I also love crafts - painting, coloring, popsicle sticks, and any fun sensory activities. I am happy to help with meal time, am comfortable watching up to 2 kids at a time, and am also very comfortable with pets (my husband and I have our own fur baby, Miss Frizzle!). My priority with child care is to make sure kids are safe, feel comfortable, have all of their needs met, so they can have fun being goofy with me!
