As indicated in my title, I am a healthy, active, "young", retired teacher and administrator. I have life experience with older people and love to listen to their stories about things that happened years ago. I've learned a lot about life - what to do and not do- by listening to my 90 year old aunt, my 78 year old mother, 80 year old father and 79 year old mother-in-law when they talk about their younger days. I'm a good listener and love to picture what it was like for them. I continue to have the pleasure and privilege of their company today. I have a brother that has some special needs and my parents rely on me to assist him when needed. He lives on his own, but I am there when he needs me. By the way, he's there for me too. Our support of each other is Read more reciprocal. I am responsible and reliable. I would be happy to assist an older person to do errands, light housekeeping, personal grooming. I believe that I need to be transparent and make sure that anything I do is ok with the older person before I do do something. I believe that a person needs to maintain autonomy as much as possible. If my assistance makes that happen; that's great. I've raised two terrific children and like my parents, I enjoy a meaningful relationship with them. I can't leave out my husband - he's my soul mate for 34 years. I write all this in my profile because I think it's important for someone looking for a companion to know what it means to me to be a companion; especially to mature adults that deserve the respect they've earned. I have life experience and have always had appreciation for older people. I'm talking as far back as when I was 17 and a candy striper in Coney Island Hospital in Brooklyn NY. I worked in the Occupational Therapy Department with older people recovering from stokes, falls, etc.. Right now, I am looking for a position where I can be of service to someone else and earn some money to enhance my pension. I am a pet owner as well as pet sit; so I am very comfortable with animals. I have been a member of the YMCA in New Rochelle and now in White Plains for the past four years. I have an exemplary driving record and love to get out and shop, run errands and sometimes just take walks. I travel down south to visit my mother-in-law (one of my best friends in the world).
