I am currently a nanny recruiter full time, and while I love finding caregivers for families, I miss the "trenches." I have been an educator, teacher and caregiver for over 40 years. This includes over 9 years as a preschool teacher, over 30 years as a horseback riding teacher/camp director, over five years as an online teacher of ESL, Early Learning and Equine Science and even four seasons as a Park Ranger! I have also been the summer caretake for several families but that's been a while ago! I have created and run programs for children from two years old to sixteen. I coached Middle Schoo, High School and Collegiate Equestrian Team. Online, I've taught hundreds of children from many countries including China, New Zealand, England, Ukraine, and Japan. I have had a ton of fun! I've also raised a wonderful daughter to adulthood. I love hiking, horseback riding, working Read more my dogs in agility, baking, embroidery, and other crafts. I'm learning how to knit and speak Mandarin. I'm very bad at it. That's one thing I like to model to children. It's okay to be bad at something. It's the journey! While I do establish boundaries with children, I would describe my style as boisterous, gentle parenting. If you have an immaculate home and place high value on quiet activities, I may not be a fit. If you want a caretaker that will build a fort in the living room, ask the kids to help prepare dinner and laugh a little to loud, that would be me. I'm just looking for occasional weekend and may a few nights here and there. I work my recruiter job until 7:00 PM so an occasional few hours after 8:00 (I have to run up and feed my horses) would be doable.
