I am submitting this letter to be considered for the position of babysitter. I was employed as a teacher for five years at the Seymour Almon pre and grade school, two years at the Denham Town Comprehensive High School, and two years at the Swallowfield Primary/Junior High School in Jamaica West Indies. I wanted to broaden my horizons; therefore, I immigrated to Canada, where I worked as a babysitter caring for three children ages two, four, and seven years old. I returned to Jamaica and later immigrated to the United States. As a teacher in Jamaica, I took pride in nurturing and guiding many students to develop a love for learning that enhances their ability to become contributing citizens in their community and their country. I have experience working with secondary and elementary students in an urban setting. I have worked in the Allentown School District of Pennsylvania as a Paraprofessional in Special Education for four years. While working in the Allentown School District, I have attended many workshops and service programs to improve my Paraprofessional skills in teaching (ESL) English as Second Language to at-risk students. My paraprofessional experiences have allowed me to work with students from various backgrounds. Such as working one-on-one with students with behavioral issues and one-on-one with students with special needs. In Jamaica, West Indies, I worked with students at different grade levels. In New York City and Pennsylvania, I worked with students from varied cultural backgrounds, such as Africans, students from the Caribbean, Hispanics, African Americans, and Caucasian students. These diverse students were both different culturally and linguistically. Through my experience in several homes and classrooms, I have learned to accommodate all children/students from traditional backgrounds to untraditional.
