Hello! My name is Holly Pennell Gillespie and I am an Occupational Therapy Graduate Student at Pfeiffer University. I have a wide range of experience in the role of care giving! Most recently, I worked as an Activities Coordinator at The Pines at Davidson working with non-ambulatory older adults. Throughout Undergraduate School, I worked as a Childcare Attendant at the local church in Western North Carolina. Additionally, I have babysat for church members' children as needed. As a volunteer, I have worked with both Jackson and Cabarrus County 4-H Programs leading Summer Day Programs, After school Programs, and assisting with weekly club meetings. One skill area I would like to highlight is my experience in working with individuals with disabilities. I have volunteered and worked for the University Participant (UP) Program at Western Carolina University. The UP Program supports adults with Intellectual Disabilities in pursuing their collegiate goals. By working Read more with this program I assisted individuals in navigating around campus, facilitated homework sessions, submitted weekly behavioral surveys, attended person centered planning meetings, and helped develop visual cues and task analysis to promote greater independence for the student. I also volunteered with the HIGHTS Program, which serves vulnerable youth in western NC by providing therapeutic adventure activities and meaningful service opportunities to develop essential life skills and a sense of belonging in their community. Other experiences working with individuals with disabilities include: leading monthly craft session with individuals with Intellectual/Developmental Disabilities at Person First Services in Sylva, assisting with Smoky Mountains Senior Games and Jackson County Special Olympics, supporting individuals with Traumatic Brain Injury at Camp Carefree Weekend Respite Camp, working one-on-one with an individual with Autism Spectrum Disorder at Camp Lakey Gap Weekend Respite Camp, and many more! In regards to certifications, my American Red Cross CPR/First Aid Certification is current and I will be renewing it in August. I am excited to work as a caregiver this summer! If you have any questions about my care giving experiences, certifications, or want to get to know me better, please feel free to reach out! Thank you for taking the time to review my profile!
