My name is Jessica and I am 21 years old and a rising senior at Appalachian State University. I am a Communication Sciences and Disorders major with a Psychology minor. When I graduate, I will be going to graduate school to get a Master's degree in Speech and Language Pathology. I hope to be an SLP working with pediatrics. I have been a summer camp counselor for the past 4 years working with all ages at YMCA Camp Hanes. I absolutely love working with kids and would not want to spend my summer doing anything else. This past summer of 2017, I got to lead a program at camp called "Leaders in Training", and I led groups of 15 year olds on a 3 week program where they participated in team building and leadership activities, volunteering around Winston-Salem with different organizations, and then went backpacking for a week on the Read more Appalachian Trail. It was so rewarding and I am so happy that I got to instill leadership skills in children. As far as certifications go, I am trained in CPR (including infant CPR), First Aid, Emergency Oxygen, and Wilderness First Aid. I also have a certificate from completing a social/behavioral research course through the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative. I will be living in the Raleigh area this summer and would love to do some full time or part time nannying/babysitting!
