I have taught, tutored, and mentored K-12 students for the past 6 years in a variety of venues from abroad in Africa to a private karate school to NC public education. My North Carolina teaching certification is in secondary English. I have worked with children who have intellectual and physical challenges as well as limited language proficiency. I have supervised children swimming, bowling, sparring, skating, and playing volleyball and football. I am very active and intellectual (I have a graduate degree in teaching, a Master's degree, and double majored in college) and do prefer to join a home where reading to your child and outdoor playing is welcomed. I'm an avid hiker (600+ miles on the AT thus far) and yogi and have three special needs dogs (2 are rescues) if you also need pet care. I have experience picking up children from school in a van and could take Read more your child to any activity you desire. I played basketball in college and am very sports-minded. I am also classically trained in the violin. I am available for short notice, as well, if you need a date night or want to scoot off to a last minute yoga class! I have a copy of a recent background check that I can furnish if you prefer. **Please note, I am allergic to cigarette smoke and cannot work in homes where there have been or are smokers.**
