I’ve been a caregiver my entire adult life. I became a nurse at age 22 and unfortunately an injury and personal family tragedy in 2009 had me decide to leave that career. I did, however, continue ias a caregiver by returning to school to become a counselor intern for those with substance use disorders ( addicts) I have 5 children (3 biological, 2 bonus from my marriage)and they are are all grown and attending college and working. I e suddenly found myself an empty nester. I have and still am the “babysitter” of the family for cousins, nieces and nephews since age 13. They’re all beginning to depend less on needing a sitter and I’m beginning to find I need and want to be around young children again, doing the things they love to do and showing them new things.
