I am 76 years old. I have 7 years & 10 months experience as a child care giver. I chose this part time employment to assist working parents because it was hard for me to find a sitter when I needed one. I cared for two children from the same family from 2011-2013. I dropped off & picked up the 7 year old from school. Assisted with homework, gave lite snacks and played games and did outdoor activity when weather permitted it. I also took care of the 9 month old's needs such as feeding, bathing, insured she took timely naps, changed diapers and played with her. My employer was laid off so my services were no longer needed. From 2014-3/18 I cared for a 7 year old special needs child with diabetes. I had to arrive at 6:00 a.m. daily get her ready for school give breakfast and prepare Read more lunch and insure that she got her proper amount of insulin. I drove her to school and picked her up in the afternoon and took her to her grandmother. The days that her grandmother was not available she stayed with me in my home until her mother got off from work. I would give her a snack, prepare her dinner and review homework on those days. Her mom broke her ankle and had to stop working in 3/18 so she had to take a medical leave. From 6/18 to the present 4/19 I have been employed as caretaker for two children ages 2.5 & 5. I pick them up from school and care for them until one of the parents gets home first. I give snacks, change diapers, read books and play games with them. I also took the 5 year old to various activities and drove to her school to pick her up when there was no bus service. I sometimes prepared their dinner if mom or dad is running late getting home. I moved to Teaneck NJ 9/18 due to the death of my mother. I having been traveling to NY to continue to care for the two children because the family is so nice to me. However, due to toll and extra gas it is too costly for me. I informed this family that as of 5/3/2019 I will be resigning this position and looking for something closer to home. Because my employer has been so nice to me I am giving them time to find a new sitter.
