In terms of experience I have been involved in the following: - My oldest brother (of three siblings) was diagnosed with cancer at the age of 5 and being the second oldest I have had the duty of taking care of him, along with my mother. - Between 2004-2013 I was involved with Camp Adventure funded by the American Cancer Society, a sleep-away camp for terminally ill children and siblings. I was a camper before I became a volunteer in 2011, I have been in charge of supervising the children with the Arts and Crafts activity and was cabin counselor for girls and boys age 6-8. I have worked with all the children aged 6-16 years old. - I worked at my towns' (West New York) Recreation Center for children aged 5-16 years old. My husband and I feel very lucky to have found Desiree! She has a very sweet and caring demeanor and I think my children felt that on the first day they met her. We trust Desiree to not only care for our children, but we trust her to be punctual which is important as well. She has shown us that it's not just a job for her, but that she really enjoys playing and interacting with our children and has their best interest in mind. Our daughter (6 years old), asks me every few days when Desiree will come over again to babysit because Desiree sits down with her to make arts/crafts projects. And our son (3.5 years old), who is usually very reserved with new people, grabbed Desiree's hand the first day she babysat for us and led her to his toy cars to show her what he had. She is a natural when it comes to engaging with our children - Desiree is the ideal babysitter.
