Hello! My name is Sophie. I am 19, and will be turning 20 in March. I am an English-Philosophy major at UNM, and I volunteer regularly with a local nonprofit called Street Safe. I work at Olo, a local frozen yogurt shop! I am passionate about learning, social justice, literature, good movies and TV shows, and kids! I love children! I love how loud and passionate and outspoken they can be, and how they are constantly learning and taking in their surroundings. I also know they can be tiring; as someone who was taken care of by a single mom, I know how important access to childcare is, and how important it is for parents/families to be given a break. I have had experience caring for children as young as six months to as old as middle school age. While I do not have a vast amount of experience, I Read more can ensure that comfort is my top priority; both the comfort of the children I am caring for, and of the families who are letting me take care of their children. I aim to always create a positive, comfortable environment where kids feel safe being completely themselves. I have certifications in Bloodborne Pathogens and in Harm Reduction and Overdose Prevention, both relevant to my volunteering experience and my potential career in social work with the unhoused population in Albuquerque and those experiencing drug use.
