I am a mom of two (ages 6 and 8) looking to continue working in the childcare field. Besides raising my own two children, I have decades of teaching experience (was certified Secondary Social Studies from 1995-2005) and baby-sitting experience. Reviewing after college childcare/teaching jobs, I taught high school Social studies from 1994-1997. From 1997-2001 I was a studio teacher/child welfare consultant working on such films as MY DOG SKIP, THE LAST BRICKMAKER IN AMERICA, and SHALLOW HAL. From 2001-2003, I worked as a regular substitute teacher in the Forsyth County School system in N.C. From Fall 2003-2004, I was a Pre-K Assistant teacher at Forsyth Country Day School in Winston-Salem, N.C. 2005-2007, I was a full-time substitute teacher in the Lynchburg, VA School District. During the years of 2007-2010, I was mainly enjoying my own two babies! From Fall 2010-2011, I baby-sat a then 5 month old for a young family near our one-time home in SWVa. I LOVED that job! My husband lost his job and we moved up here due to a new job. Baby Charlie was an only child then, and loved spending time with my kids. Taking care/helping a mommy with an infant would be ideal, but would like any opportunity to assist a family. On May 29, I completed a job working with a one year old boy, Brayden. His mother began a new job in Chicago, so they had to relocate. Concerning home management, I can follow instructions from the parents with dutiful glee. However, I can also take initiative when action is needed with unexpected circumstances arise. I am not currently CPR certified, but I'm planning on taking classes in the next few weeks. I am so excited about helping a young family with their precious baby(ies)!
