I have been a preschool teacher for three years now, after prior nanny/babysitting experience and am currently finishing up with my Associates in Early Childhood Education. Due to this, I am stepping back from teaching and am looking for a something that would work a bit better with my schedule for classes. My availability is before 4 M-Th, (because for the fall semester I have to complete fieldwork hours 9-1 and have classes afterwards). Obviously this is a wonky schedule, so if this works with you, please reach out! I've worked with kids as a tutor, pickup/drop-off, babysitting, nannying, and have been a teacher or the past three years in the 2s, infants, then 1s classes. I believe in respecting children, even infants, as the smaller humans they are and offering them solutions to their budding problems and frustrations. Seleena worked for us full-time for two months taking care of our 2 1/2 year old daughter while we in New York. She fed her, played with her, took her to various activities and helped her to use the potty. Seleena was very responsible, reliable, caring and patient towards Emmie who definitely bonded with her over the two-month period. Seleena is a little younger than anyone we'd had look after Emmie so we were very impressed at how responsible and mature she is for her age (more so than many people 10 years older than her!). Our daughter is very energetic, loves constant interaction, and gets bored easily and Seleena was very resourceful and responsive towards her. Seleena appears to be a natural with kids but I can imagine she would do well at whatever she decided to put her efforts towards. As she mentioned to me in the email in response to the job call, don't let her age put you off; she will be great!
