Hello! My name is Lesslie Thomas and I was born and raised in the Bronx, NY. My hobbies include dance, bike riding, reading, and enjoying the outdoors! I absolutely adore animals so its no problem for me! My availability is completely open for the summer all the way until January. I have 5 years experience with child care and tutoring as well. I frequently cared for a child from toddler to when she was 5 years old that had a heart condition and mild nonnan syndrom. Caring for her has taught me patience and gave me an understanding and love for children like no other. Her syndrome caused her to react and throw many tantrums that at first were confusing and overwhelming but what got me through it was being able to understand her and her condition. As a young teen, I worked in my old church's summer day camp. Read more We would care for children and often take them out everyday to places such as parks, pools, lunch, etc. it was difficult having to watch a large amount a kids ,especially in public transportation, but it was also fun and eye opening to their different personalities and how to tend to each of their needs. Working in a summer day camp it has taught me how to enforce rules while not being seen as the " bad guy". My last experience is tutoring an 8 year old. Boy was it a challenge! As every other kid, he loved math but absolutely hated reading. He needed to develop his reading skills due to him failing a grade the past year. His mother reached out to me, who was a member from the church, and asked if I was able to help. Ive never seen a kid hate reading so much! But I got him to slowly like reading. We would make it into fun little games and often take turns reading at first. Then when I begun to see that he was slowly enjoying it I would often get him to read more and more on his own and would reward him for doing a good job, but to be rewarded he needed to earn it and he definitely would! Im glad to say that through all the hard work and dealing with his stubbornness im the beginning was definitely worth seeing him pass onto the next grade!
