Hi there and thanks for visiting my profile! I am a 33-year old care giver from New York who happens to love caregiving! I hold both a bachelors and masters degree in music and I also have experience in improvisational comedy. I am currently living in New York after having finished my M.M. this past May and working to get my career as a professional opera singer off the ground. In order to sustain myself throughout my education I completed certifications in personal training, yoga and meditation, which I teach privately. I also am in the process of competing a nutritionist certification and renewing my CPR/first aid certifications. Going to school for music and studying opera and art song specifically has given me a lot of knowledge in some pretty obscure subjects. I often joke that I am a 21st-century governess, as my skill set encompasses those of a Victorian Read more governess, just with yoga, nutrition and mindfulness practice lobbed on top. I have basic skills in almost all of the romance languages as well as in Hebrew. I have experience tutoring in various school subjects as well as working with various learning styles. Some of my favorite ways to spend my time are getting involved in outdoor activities, such as hiking, biking and kayaking/canoeing. During my undergraduate education I completed a minor in environmental science and did some work in Bangladesh. This experience gave me a deep love for the outdoors and an immense respect for the natural world - in fact, sometimes I am surprised that I don't live in a remote wildlife conservancy. In this age of increasing technological dependence, I believe that it is so important for children to unplug and learn to create adventures for themselves outdoors. I love to learn about various child-rearing styles. I always strive to be on the same page as parents, whether that is strictly adhering to specific books/methodologies or a more laissez-faire approach. I have skills in food preparation, especially for those with dietary restrictions, and I suppose my calling card is always leaving a tidy home for you to come home to. Studies show that doing chores is a very important part of how children learn self-reliance, accountability and respect for their surroundings, so I encourage cleaning parties and working as a team to leave a room nicer than we found it. And I of course go over everything afterward to make sure you come home to a comfortable, clean and quiet nest.
