Since I was 14 years old and began babysitting, caring for children has been an important part of my life. As a camp counselor, a babysitter, and a nanny for families with children of varying ages, I have been brought irreplaceable encouragement and optimism from the brilliance children carry inside them, and I am consistently touched by the wonder of their development. Each day newness arrives to them, and in whatever form it takes, it holds the power to immediately broaden their grasp of the surrounding world and culture. My hope is to cultivate inspiring and uninhibited environments that allow the children I care for to feel comfortable and confident, excited by the possibility of exploration, learning, and discovery. The family I previously nannied for had two children, a boy and a girl ages 6 and 3. In their home, I prepared and served meals with balanced nutrition, provided a Read more variety healthy snacks throughout the day, organized stimulating crafts, expressive imaginative play, and recreational playtime, planned for trips to children’s discovery museum, library, and park, selected and read storybooks that sustained the children’s interests and encouraged thoughtful conversation, perform light housekeeping duties, assisted with family pet, laundry, and dishes, and communicated effectively and intentionally with the parents in a desire to best meet the children’s emotional and physical needs.
