Hello! I am Erica! I have been working with children for ~3 years now: a few months through college courses, half a year as a mixed age preschool teacher, one as a lead pre-k teacher, and most recently, a year of subbing and student teaching. I would consider myself to be a creative, out of the box thinker. The activities I plan for all of the kids I work with are meaningful and educational, while also being fun and engaging. I am almost fluent in Spanish. I hesitate to say I am fluent because I am not a native speaker and I will occasionally make conjugation errors in complicated tenses. I have studied Spanish in school for 7 years and as a child I lived in a household where Spanish was sometimes spoken. I also recently went to Merida, Mexico, where I studied in an intensive immersion course for a Read more week. I also took Mandarin classes at the age of 16 in Chinatown in NY, but I only remember a handful of sentences, words, and characters. While subbing and student teaching this past year I found that students really loved learning Mandarin and practicing Chinese calligraphy. I also enjoy creating art with children. I have worked on a range of projects from creating structures (engineering) to creating props for child led plays. I also have taught students how to crochet, watercolor, and create works of art using clay. Being that I am working towards my K-12 teaching certification, I can also help your child as a tutor, and/or with homework. I can’t wait to meet you and yours! Erica
