I've been caring for children since I myself was a child. From the ages of ten to eighteen I helped a woman raise her five children. When I was eighteen I worked part-time with a developmentally disabled woman while earning my bachelor's degree in math. She and I hung out for hours, doing chores together, playing games and going on errands. I helped her become more independent while we formed a really lovely bond. After this job I was a nanny for a 10 year old boy in Park Slope, picking him up from school and taking him to his after school appointments in my car, or via public transportation. Then we would head to his home, where I hung out with him and his cat and did homework with him until his parents got home from work.
