Greetings! My name is Allison Davies. I am 49 years old and I am a Nanny/Sitter/Tutor with a background in photography. In addition to working professionally as a photographer, I have cared for children for over thirty years. I began sitting, as most teens do, after school and on weekends. While attending NYU Tisch School of the Arts I worked as a part-time babysitter for various families and NYU professors in Manhattan. After receiving my BFA, I worked full-time at The Children's International Workshop, a private pre-school located on 16th Street and Union Square West. I taught 2 to 5 year olds for six years, 1990-1996. I then was a full-time nanny for over a year for a family with three children. When I started they were 4 months, 3 years old, and 6 years old. I graduated with an MFA from Yale School of Art in 1999 and worked Read more for Yale managing the School of Art digital design labs for two years. I returned to New York in 2001 and I held a similar position at Parsons The New School for Design for two years. In addition, I was a part time babysitter. In 2009 I participated in English Opens Doors, a teaching program organized by the Chilean Ministry of Education and the United Nations Development Programme. I lived in northern Chile and taught English at Escuela Grecia, an elementary school. I prepared lesson plans and created English-focused activities for students including field trips and regional debate competitions. I lived in Calama with a single mother and her 14 year old daughter. When I returned to the States, I received a Certificate in TESOL from Columbia. Currently, I sit for two families. One family has a 2 year old girl that I have cared for since she was 4 months old. The second family has two children, 6 and 9 years old and I have cared for them for seven years. In addition, I have tutored a 9 year old in reading skills and English for two years. When babysitting, I adore taking children outdoors to explore parks as well as museums, libraries and on playdates. I encourage creative indoor activities, listening to music and a lot of time dedicated to reading. I would look to you, the parent, for specific instructions on meals and TV time. I'll take the lead once the instructions are given so you may be rest assured that your children are safe and well cared for while you are away.
