Hi! My name is Sophia. I am a Junior at UB studying Health & Human Services with a concentration in Early Childhood. I also minor in Business Administration, and it's my dream job to open an art therapy practice someday and help children and families from all sorts of backgrounds. I have been working in daycares and babysitting since I was around 12--practically a kid myself!--and I have always had a passion for working with children. From volunteering in a special needs summer camp to teaching baby yoga, I've done it all! Ensuring the safety and wellbeing of children in my care is my number one priority. I am Red Cross Babysitter Certified; as an individual who has worked for state-accredited childcare programs for over two years now, I have earned and continue to hold certifications in the NYS Health & Safety and Mandated Reporter courses. Going above and beyond Read more my training, to surpass minimum standards and uphold best practice, is an essential aspect of my work. I am currently out of employment due to recent global events; I am both a restaurant server and an after school program teacher on a substitute basis, and the pandemic has resulted in closures of both my main job sites. At the same time, I know that these crazy times have left a lot of people with nowhere to turn for childcare. I am hopeful that I can use my skills and compassion in these difficult times to connect with my community and lift each other up. Especially because all my classes are online now, so I have lots of free time :) I am more than happy to talk over Skype, Facetime, or on the phone before any official arrangements are made.
