I have been babysitting children since I was 15 years old. I went to college for speech-language pathology. Taking a work break before going into grad school, I have spent my time working as a nanny for children as young as 4 months old. Now I currently work in a special needs preschool as a teacher assistant in a self-contained classroom. We work with children on the autism spectrum as well as other behavioral needs (not yet diagnosed). We work daily with the children on daily life skills and strategies to help when they are upset. The teacher I work with is an experienced special needs educator with a background working as an ABA therapist. She has provided me with a lot of knowledge working with special needs children
