I have a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy from Binghamton University, where I graduated cum laude and with All-University Honors. I attended Fordham University School of Law on scholarship and received my Juris Doctor in 2015. I intend to take the New York State Bar Examination this coming February. I have been babysitting since high school. Since then, I have worked as a caregiver for children in various capacities: as an occasional date-night babysitter, a mother's helper, a regular after-school babysitter, a tutor, and a full-time summer nanny. I also have significant teaching experience and genuinely enjoy tutoring children, helping them improve their performance in school and develop a love of learning. I have significant experience working with children with disabilities, particularly autism and ADHD, and I was my diabetic father's caregiver for years. I can administer insulin shots and take blood sugar readings, and I am extremely knowledgeable Read more about diabetes in general--i.e., the warning signs of low blood sugar, the importance of diet, etc. I am very conscientious about health matters and can be counted on to diligently monitor a child's medical needs. I am also keenly aware of the needs of children on the autism spectrum, and have experience dealing with meltdowns and accommodating sensory overload issues. After years of law school, I look forward to the opportunity to work with children again as a wonderful breath of fresh air. I enjoy coming up with stimulating activities that suit each child's unique personality and am a huge proponent of educational fun. I love to read to kids and facilitate play that involves their imagination and creativity. My mother is an educator who specialized in remedial reading. She wrote a thesis about using media that children are exposed to outside of the classroom as a tool to improve literacy. She taught me many techniques to assist struggling or beginning readers, and I have helped her with lesson planning, tutoring, and even "guest teaching." I consider myself very creative and have won awards for my writing. I believe that my storytelling skills and propensity for coming up with stimulating activities for children make me stand out as a caregiver.
