Hello! My name is Leah. I am 28 years old. I love spending time with children and animals alike. I am a very proud auntie to my amazing niece (4 years old) and nephew (2 years old). I also have two cats, a very special blind kitty named Lucy and a rambunctious one named Skunk. I am a student who has returned to UB for a second degree and am currently pursuing physical therapy. Thus, most of my free time is spent studying. Before school, however, I was teaching 9th grade biology part time, teaching yoga at a local fitness center, and working in a restaurant as a server. Some of my interests include cooking, fitness, and music. I’ve had quite a few unique experiences teaching kids. Back in my dancing days in high school, I always set aside time to teach dance voluntarily. I would assist in teaching ballet Read more to ages 3-5 at the studio, and set up a dance club at my former school for teaching hip hop to ages 8-12. While pursuing my bachelor’s degree, I did an internship that involved teaching various age groups about environmental conservation. As mentioned, I was a biology teacher as well. It was something I sort of stumbled into as a substitute, but I wound up being very passionate about it. The kids never failed to make me laugh and I learned how to help my students with their work and cater to their individual needs. Most of my experience with babies and toddlers has been with my own niece and nephew, Lily and River. I am very close with my sister and have been involved with them since they were born. I’ve cared for older children both as a sitter and in the teaching scenarios mentioned before. I have experience caring for an elderly woman with some health and mobility issues. I am also all of my friends and family’s go-to pet sitter! I love all animals and enjoy giving them all the love and attention they deserve when their families aren’t around!
