Meet Jamila

I am currently a Program Director at the non-profit organization, St. Nicks Alliance, based in Brooklyn, NY. I am in charge of running a teen after-school program which include various task such as facilitating workshops and daily trips, for ages 11-18 years old. On the side, however, I love to make time for the younger children and their family in need of the extra hand. I have experience with babysitting from the past 3 years. I was an On-Call nanny/babysitter for several families based in New York City. I assisted these busy families with daily home support, such as light cleaning of laundry and around the home. I was responsible for drop off as well as pick up of children from school as well as after-school programs. My experience with these families and their children allowed me to develop effective child management skills. I love what I do because it Read more allows me to be a caretaker, in which I feel is my calling in life. I love children and because I am the oldest of 5 siblings, I was always deemed the "Mother Hen," of the family. Being able to watch over and care for younger children bring about a different level of liberation, and happiness to my life. The families I have previously worked for always describe me as easy-going, understanding, fun, and extremely handy, as well as reliable.
