I took the Red Cross babysitting course when I was in 7th grade and realized my passion for working with children. From then on, I've worked with my aunt in her private home daycare during the summer doing things such as prepping meals and leading activities which allowed her to take on a few extra children with my extra set of helping hands. When I was eligible to take BOCES 2-year early childhood education program, I was thrilled! We gained skills in lesson planning, working with the children hands-on, working with children with special needs, preparing meals/snacks, working with children ranging from 2-4 years old. Since high school, I've continued my work with children. I've worked for summer youth and after school programs with aging ranging from 4-13 and most recently, I worked for a foster care agency where I worked one on one, providing support for children in care.
