Being the eldest of four children, I am quite used to being responsible for all of my siblings! However, my experience ranges beyond my home while growing up. Throughout high school and college I babysat nights and weeks for a number of children within and outside my family. During college I specifically became interested in working with special needs children and had the wonderful opportunity of working with three Deaf children with Down's Syndrome for two years. I am trained in American Sign Language and am an advocate of "baby signing" to teach children to communicate before they can even speak! Currently, I am working for IBM and am involved in our student mentoring program with the PTECH school in Brooklyn. I feel fortunate to have the opportunity at work to do two things I love - work with students and volunteer!
