My background in caregiving goes back to when I myself was a kid. I was the older brother in my household, and I always felt an instinctual need to take care of him. Flash forward to my teenage years, and I became the de facto babysitter for my family members, which meant I took care of my young cousins and my two nieces. My other job is as a stage manager and production assistant for theatrical productions. As a stage manager, I am responsible for the safety, comfort and well-being of all of the actors in the room. This position requires me to be both totally in control yet emotionally open. Even more than the director, the stage managers are the caretakers in the rehearsal room. I have had the pleasure to function as what is known as the "child supervisor" on multiple productions I've assisted on. This means that Read more when there was a child actor in the show, I became their caretaker whenever they were at a rehearsal or performance. Most recently, I held this position on a 200 person production of "The Winter's Tale," where I was often responsible for 10 children at once. I have also worked with kids in other scenarios, including occasionally teaching a dance class for kinds under the age of 10, and leading theatrical workshops in a middle school in Dorset, VT. Most recently, I was a full time childcare provider with Sitters Studio in New York from August 2015 - July 2016. Sadly, I had to leave my position there, as I went to Iowa City to pursue my MFA in Playwriting. Taking care of kids is one of the consistent joys in my life.I hope to be able to share that joy with you. I am openly gay, and am happy to work with any and all types of families.
