I have over six years of experience in childcare as a Nanny and mother's helper in Manhattan. This has included age ranges of newborn to 14 years of age. Over the last four years, I have been a babysitter for three families with children ranging newborn to seven years old. My focus has been to increase the confidence of children, provide unconditional love, discover how to best engage them in activities, and when needed, the most appropriate way to provide discipline in a positive manner, being consistent with the parent's philosophy while importantly actively demonstrating that I care about each one of them a great deal. My Background: I have a Bachelor's degree in Physiology from Michigan State University and completed a two-year conservatory focusing on acting, voice and movement. I have been involved with child development off and one since I was eighteen when I started spending summers in Read more the mountains working with children from five to thirteen years. I also have two nieces and one nephew who are two, five and seven with whom I am obsessed! I understand the importance that art and creativity can play in child's development. I enjoy teaching them at age appropriate levels allowing for their best self-expression. I also feel that literature greatly enhances the child's development. With my passion for education, and love for children, I see the importance of instilling a love of learning in the human heart from a young age. I enjoy creating an atmosphere where children can feel the joy of life and learning. A few activities I enjoy doing with children are reading, drawing, spending time at parks and nature, dancing and listening to/teaching them about music. As a former athlete, I also recognize the importance of exercise in the daily lives of children. Exercise is key to a healthy body. I have found that such activities often create opportunities for moments of spontaneous teaching about the specific subjects as well as principles of good character and a healthy mind. I look forward to finding the family where I can be a part of creating a happy and fulfilling childhood.
