Meet Katrina

• Comfortable with pets

Being around children brings me joy. I'm inspired by the curiosity and playfulness that kids add to life. This fall I am starting an MFA double major in Interior Design and Lighting Design at Parsons School of Design. For the past four years, I have been working in the architectural field at SALA Architects and Lazor Office. In 2015 I received a Bachelor of Design in Architecture and three minors in Product Design, Art, and Urban Studies from the University of Minnesota. With a background based in architecture, my curiosity has led my design practice to extend into apparel, furniture, and set design. Your children might be delighted to know that I helped teach the product design studio, Toy Design. I've always found myself gravitating towards designing products and spaces for a younger audience. Part of that influence might have stemmed off of my college part-time job at a baby Read more and kid boutique, Pacifier. Beyond just designing and working with baby and kid products, I have been babysitting since I was a teenager. I love creating things and coming up with new games with young minds. During high school, I taught figure skating for a wide range of skill sets and ages from as young as three years old. Encouraging children to go out of their comfort zone and teach them a new sport has been one of my most rewarding jobs. I find balance in diversifying my daily responsibilities. My ideal situation would be dividing my workload between two of my passions, designing and caring for children. This summer I will be living in the Upper West Side and will have a flexible and open schedule until classes start at the end of August.
