I'm 21 years old with a background in art and some psychology. I’ve been working with children for over 8 years. My first job in childcare was as a babysitter. While I babysat many kids, I was the primary babysitter for a young boy from the time he was 6 until he was 13. I learned so much about how to be there for a child as they face the challenges of growing up, how to support them and take them seriously, to lend advice and understanding, and be that extra person in their life that cares about them and wants them to be happy and succeed. My next job in childcare was as a camp counselor, which taught me about the ways children interact with each other, how to support kids in conflict, how to create structured fun, and much more. My most recent job in childcare was as Read more an assistant teacher at a daycare. The children at this job were far younger, from 3 months to 5 years old. I worked extensively with each age group, learning about their development, how to get them engaged in learning, build empathy, communication skills and conflict resolution. I am trained in SIDS prevention and shaken baby syndrome prevention.
