Hello, my name is Alejandra Alemany, I am 31 years old. I was born and raised in the Dominican Republic but moved to New York City in September 2016 to study acting. Since I came to NYC i have been babysitting kids from ages between 2 months old through 13 years old. I have plenty of references if needed. I worked for two years with a family - two boys, when I started they were 1 and 3 years old. I also worked for two years with a lovely family - 10 y/o girl and a dog - so I also have dog sitter experience if necessary. About my education, I have a degree in Social Communication. Before I moved to the city, I use to work on a daily NEWS show as an entertainment host and I also worked as an actress in commercials, movies and plays. Even though, Read more my studies haven’t been focused on kids, since I was in high school, I have felt a unique and special connection with kids. That’s why during that time I worked as the assistant’s instructor (groups between 2-6 years old) for three consecutive summers at a Summer Camp in the Dominican Republic. It is so that during my senior year I decided I was going to study early education as my bachelor´s degree but then I realized I really liked kids and teaching but not as my main career because I was more passionate about arts and in my country it's not a very common career so it is hard to make a living out of it. Being a babysitter has given me the opportunity to combine two of my passions, ARTS and KIDS because I can dance, sing, act and have lots of fun with them, I can be myself and it seems like they enjoy it a lot :) Working directly with kids on a daily base has make me learn so much about how their brain works, how to talk to them in a way they can understand, how to teach them new things in a way they can be interested about it, how to make them make better choices, how to make them be good listeners, how to make them understand when something isn’t right, how to build trust and understanding among them, how to have the necessary patience to work with them, how to celebrate their triumphs but at the same time how to know when we can push them for more, how to create a safe environment where they feel free to communicate anything, among other things. Since November 2019, I've been working at New York Kids Club as a Special Event Staff Member, assisting with Pre-k and leading summer camp.
