Thank you for taking the time to consider me to care for your child(ren). I have been babysitting since I was eleven-years-old and have been a full-time nanny in Manhattan for the past fifteen years. Additionally, I have several years experience as both a full- and part-time nanny in PA and one year as a preschool teacher in AZ. In that time, families have trusted me with their children from newborns through teenagers. As far as my philosophy, I believe that a well-balanced approach is best. Children will, after all, be adults one day.  Having structure and discipline, learning manners and respect, and developing independent behaviors, such as taking care of their things and cleaning up after themselves, will pave the way for much smoother transitions into school, college, and eventually, "the real world." But right now, they are children. They should have time to run around in the park, Read more play sports, or go ice-skating.  They should be able to enjoy imaginative play or build blocks or play with dolls with their friends, siblings, and caregivers. They deserve some downtime to play or read independently. The value of allowing and encouraging children to have fun cannot be overstated. Not only does it make them happy, but it also develops reasoning and interpersonal skills. I believe in reading rather than watching tv and in board games rather than video games. And I believe that a healthy diet is essential for their health, growth, and development.
