I have over 13 years of experience in childcare as a Nanny and mother’s helper. This has included 12 children ranging from 3 months to 14 years of age. My focus has been to find the uniqueness in children, how best to engage them in activities, and when needed, the most appropriate way to provide discipline in a positive manner, being consistent with the parent’s philosophy, while importantly actively demonstrating I care about each one of them a great deal. The family I am working with now will not need me over the summer and in the mornings after that. I will still be with them from time to time. My Background: I will be starting graduate school in the fall at Teachers College/Columbia. I also have a graduate degree from the New York Academy of Art. I understand the importance that art and creativity can play in a child’s Read more development. I enjoy teaching them at age appropriate levels allowing for their best self-expression. I also feel that literature greatly enhances the child’s development. With my passion for education, and a love for children, I see the importance of instilling a love of learning in the human heart from a young age. I enjoy creating an atmosphere where children can feel the joy of life and learning. A few of the activities I enjoy doing with children are reading, painting/drawing, spending time in nature, cooking, dancing, and listening to and teaching them about music. I am proficient with the piano and have the ability of teaching children this instrument. I always love incorporating daily activities with their school and after-school activities. For example, piñatas. As an athlete I trained and competed in several sports at the High School level as well as intramural sports in college. I played many sports. Exercise is key to a healthy body. I have found that such activities often create opportunities for moments of spontaneous teaching about the specific subject as well as principles of good character and a healthy mind. I look forward to finding the family where I can be a part of creating a happy and fulfilling childhood
