I am a mother of a 16 and 13 year old. Both girls, and I love being a mom. I had been a Home Economics teacher for 9 years, prior to going into my current passion of tutoring reading and writing in workshops. I also teach reading one on one. When I taught Home Ec, we cooked quite a bit. As I witnessed an increase in students, a decrease in budget, and less cooking time, along with much more paperwork, I went back to school to become certified in Reading, and to expand my passion for writing. I was a Reading Teacher here in Rockland for ages 6-10, for one year as it was a leave replacement position, but was unable to secure a job as a Reading teacher thereafter.I love to tutor groups of 2 to 5 students in reading and writing workshops. I still enjoy working with students Read more very much and would be privileged working with your treasures. I have been a substitute teacher in Bergen County working both in the Elementary and Middle Schools, and I love it. I enjoy children of all ages, and have the experience to show. My husband is the membership director at American Ballet Theatre, and we enjoy coming into the city with the kids to catch a play or ballet, or music. We love jazz!! Our house is an old Victorian- four story which we have lived in for 17 years with our dog Charlo. We are a very close family, and enjoy family time and walks around town. My eldest daughter is involved with Circus Arts, and the younger one plays 2 instruments, and loves music. Both are excellent students. I continue to work here, and enjoy my cooking and exercise. I usually take a very slow run by the river, or go to my zumba class. I do not have a resume of babysitting experience, however I do feel comfortable around kids, and have made a career of it most of my life. Looking forward to hearing from you, Maria Johnson
