I have a 4 year old step-daughter who I have spent the last two years raising as my own. I value emotionally satisfying tasks over anything financially beneficial (but yes, unfortunately we all need money to survive). It feels like just yesterday I was still a kid, so I find it very easy to relate even in this rapidly changing world. I think with my heart but my head is still very much attached. From school work, to yard work (yes, no matter what you may think your kids can still enjoy the outdoors if you make it FUN!), to their favorite video games, I find it easy to reach an understanding with children of all ages. There are a hundred different ways to teach any given child a life lesson, but I find they are best learned through compassionate and understanding care.
