I had a very busy babysitting business as a teenager, and held several a full time position as a governess with families as a few of my first jobs. I have worked with children formally, as a social worker on a treatment team in a psychiatric setting, and teaching arts, music, and theater to kids living in poverty here in Rochester and overseas. My mother had a daycare business, and I frequently would assist on a per diem basis. Informally, I have worked with elementary aged inner-city kids in my neighborhood, doung gardening and story-telling, and served older youth at the Gantt Rec center helping them establish a theater project and organize a haunted house fundraiser. I have also volunteered at the library resource outreach center assisting families in need accessing services and offering support. I prefer to work with children who are ages 3 years and older, and mostly Read more out of diapers, , as my style is to do a lot of interactive learning and enrichment activities with kids. I have had experience with kids with trauma and some behavioral issues, such as ADHD, but I am not experienced with autism. I have also worked with gifted children and developed learning activities, such as nature hikes, museum and history trips, and special projects directed by my charge’s interests and talents, to supplement and enrich engagement with school work.
