As a current doctorate student at St. John's University looking to become a child psychologist, I look forward to dedicating my career to helping and working with children. At a sleepaway camp, I was one of three counselors in charge of a bunk of 15 ten-year-old girls. I was also a tennis instructor, which enabled me to spend time with campers of all different ages throughout the day. I was able to make many special connections with the campers through my experience of living with them, taking care of them, and helping them with any problems or issues they may have had while spending two months away from home. With a younger sibling of my own and a mother and father who work full-time, I am extremely used to playing the babysitter role in my own home in New York and in the home of her friends. I have had Read more plenty of experiences babysitting, doing car-pools, and connecting with children. Furthermore, my past volunteer experience as an Assistant Teacher at a special-needs preschool allowed me to further realize the joy I have for working with children. In this preschool I assisted the teaching with running a social skills class for children diagnosed with Autism, ADHD, and Bipolar Disorder, helped supervise activities and addressed socialization and behavioral issues.
