Hi! My name is Maria. I am majoring in child education at St Josephs College. I love children which is why I want to help them grow mentally and emotionally as my teachers have done for me. I have had many jobs working with children, including working at Equinox, daycares and babysitting. Building relationships with these children is almost as rewarding as seeing them interact, learn and grow.  I have been babysitting for 4 years now. I have watched babies from 3 months all the way up to 12 years old and each and every child is different and brings something new into my life. I really love taking the children out to parks and walks as fresh air does the body good. I volunteer at an elementary school and help the kids with their homework. I do speak spanish a little bit; I am trying to become fluent but Read more Im not fluent yet, so english is still my most comfortable language although I would gladly teach the kids spanish or practice with them if wanted. I believe interaction is extremely important so I engage in different activities with the kids such as different games depending on what they like, something more mind boggling like puzzles or something more creative like art projects. I am a huge kid at heart so I am thrilled to play dress up and have tea parties or get down on all four hands and knees and play dragons and knights or do finger painting or whatever else is fun that we can do as long as they are safe. I also love playing outside with them or playing sports or hide and seek. I am energetic and I am loads of fun, but I also understand the importance of structure. It is so heart warming to hear a child laugh so as a babysitter my goal is to enable the kids to embrace their fun, wild creative   imaginations in a safe and steady environment. I am very open, and encourage my families to ask any questions they may have for me because it is important to know who is watching your child.
