Hi! My name is Jahlia, I’m 26 years old, and I have been working with children for over a decade. My childcare journey began in high school as a camp counselor at S.T.A.R., and from that moment on I knew my passion was creating a safe, engaging, and supportive space where children can learn, explore, and grow. I am bilingual in English and Spanish and graduated from the Dual Language Program at Southampton High School. I also studied Early Childhood Development at Suffolk Community College, gaining foundational knowledge that I’ve applied throughout my hands-on experience. After high school, I nannied full-time through a nanny platform before moving into school-based positions. I worked at Alternatives for Children as a part-time secretary, where I supported children with mild to severe intellectual and behavioral disabilities and assisted in classrooms and parent–teacher conference translations. I later became a part-time school monitor and translator at Read more Tuckahoe School District. From there, I accepted a Teacher’s Aide position at Wunnechaunuck Shinnecock Preschool working with infants ages 6 weeks to 18 months. I am currently collaborating with a teacher at Southampton School District to create a nonprofit organization focused on providing camps, workshops, and enrichment opportunities for children of all ages. I have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation (a spacious 2013 Ford Flex with room for car seats, strollers, and third-row seating). I love taking children to the library, parks, children’s museums, and after-school activities. I’m happy to share references, parent reviews, and samples of the educational curriculums I’ve created.
