I grew up in Staten Island; I live close to the ferry, so as a child, I often went into the city because my mom worked there. I would often frequent museums with my mother and appreciate art. I have a sister who is nine years older than me. I often accompanied my sister to various outings within the five boroughs. As a child, I enjoyed going to Broadway shows, waterparks, and art classes. I attended the College of Staten Island for my B.A. in Studio Art. While attending, I realized my passion for teaching young children when I became a summer camp counselor. From then on, I pursued teaching jobs, gained experience through substitute teaching, and ultimately worked my way up to becoming a Lead Teacher. Then in 2021, I embarked on my journey to my master’s degree in Early Childhood General/Special Education (Birth-2nd.) My anticipated graduation date is Read more Fall 2023. While substituting, I worked with various age groups and worked with phenomenal educators who have taught me and molded me into the person I am today. I have worked with children for eight-plus years. The ages I have worked with range from infants-kindergartners. I have been teaching preschoolers for five years at my current center. I babysat families of children who went to school frequently after work. I then began nannying families after school in November 2018. I have worked with three different families as a nanny. My responsibilities at my center are creating a curriculum, evaluating my student’s growth and development, and exploring art. The most current family I nannied for, the children when I began were a 6-month-old boy and a 4-year-old girl. I picked them up from school, took them to the park or the library, bathed them, dressed them, fed them dinner (prepped the infant’s bottle and older daughters’ food), and set them up for bedtime. I have been a part-time children’s art teacher, a babysitter, a substitute teacher, a co-lead teacher, a nanny, and a lead teacher. I was on a swim team all through my high school career. I became a lifeguard and taught swim lessons while in high school and into college. My background in American Sign Language gives me the knowledge to teach my students Sign Language in the classroom and at home. With younger children teaching them, ASL helps with communication when children haven’t learned to speak. I am CPR/First Aid Certified. I am a creative person. I also enjoy all types of music.
