My name is Ann and I am a recent graduate from Fordham University where I double majored in Anthropology and Sociology. I am originally from California and grew up in a very large family. I am one of five and have grown up with sixteen cousins (and that's just on my mom's side), I have spent my entire life taking care of younger siblings and cousins along with picking up additional babysitting and tutoring jobs from family friends. In high school I engaged in a handful of extracurricular activities that allowed me to work with children and underclassmen. My freshman year of high school, I was involved in the Teaching Language Club where myself and another high school student would visit a nearby elementary school twice a week and teach Spanish to a classroom of 1st graders. I was also Read more a Peer Education educator for three years in high school where I would teach incoming freshmen the dangers of alcohol- and drug-use and how to handle peer pressure dilemmas. While I am not fluent in these languages, I took three years of Spanish in high school and two years of French in college and have a basic understanding of both languages and will be able to help with language homework if necessary. I also have basic knowledge of the violin from playing for three years as a child. I love engaging with younger children about their interests and hobbies and am passionate about helping further develop said interests. I have over a year of experience in nannying for a New York City family primarily taking care of a six-year-old girl and two-year-old boy. I also contributed to household chores and cooked dinner every night for the family. As for my personal interests, growing up in California has always encouraged me to lead an active lifestyle. I love outdoor activities such as hiking, bicycling, and being immersed in nature. With my degree in Anthropology, I have acquired the tools needed to maintain a culturally and socially-aware idea of the world around us. What I am most passionate about, however, is food and cooking. Cooking and preparing meals for a family is something I enjoy doing and have had personal experience with. With my personal background and anthropological studies in school, I believe I have the traits and skills that will contribute to the development and happiness of your children.
