My name is Britteny Douglas, and I am a freshman at Geneva College in Beaver Falls, PA. I am currently studying Elementary and Special Education, which is enabling me to learn how to best work with kids, and the importance of being aware of and sensitive to each child's uniqueness. I have completed my clearances, which includes fingerprinting, and a child abuse and background check. I am also CPR certified. I have been around many children my entire life, from ages infant to 14. I have spent a lot of time with my four younger cousins, who are now ages 11, 9, 7, and 5. On multiple occasions I have spent time with them at their house assisting my aunt by playing outside with the kids, cooking some meals, and helping with some mild housework. When I was in middle school and high school, I often helped watch kids in Read more either the nursery or preschool class. I would work with the kids on games or teach bible lessons occasionally. I used to babysit the kids of a few couples that were in my parent's bible study. I formed lasting relationships with both of these families. I have spent time working in the older kids' ministry at my old church. I have also developed a close-knit relationship with my neighbors, and their kids and grandkids. I have babysat their grandkids (now ages 6 and 8) on more than one occasion for date nights. The past two summers I nannied for a family with three kids, now ages 12, 12, and 14. I was responsible for transporting them occasionally to and from their sporting events, to and from the water park we went to, and for preparing lunch. Since a young age, I have always been able to work well with kids, and am able to easily form relationships with them. I am capable of preparing meals and being responsible for housework and pet care. I do not smoke or drink at all! I would express love, grace, compassion towards the kids, and teach them how to also treat others in a similar manner.
