I love little children and their wonder of the world. I just love to see the magic through their eyes as they discover new things every day. When my own were tiny, I had a daycare in my home. Since then I've earned two master's degree in education -- M.Ed in Curriculum & Instruction with an emphasis on special education, and an M.Ed in Special Education. My own grandchildren live in Okinawa Japan on a military base and will soon be going to Italy. I can only connect with them via skype or a very expensive trip to Japan! As an intervention specialist, I know how to nurture development in children, including pre-reading and cognitive skills in both well and special needs kids. I presently substitute teach in the area after a few years away from the classroom. I missed working with children! I have four biological children, including one Read more set of twins. We adopted a fifth child who was a teen at the time of adoption. My children are all grown and on their own except for one who is 30 years old with special needs. After filling out my profile, I saw that it asks for other skills. I worked as a nurse's aide many years ago. Previous to any professional work, I babysat for a family with a child with hydrocephaly. They trained me to care for her when I was a teenager. Note: I needed to verify who I am so I had to change the address. We rent a small studio apartment in Lancaster Ohio during the week. We live in Caldwell Ohio, but most of the work we do is out here. Not sure how to fix that so I get notification of babysitting needs out here, but I'll try to fix that. Also, I didn't want to pay for a background check since I just paid for one to get my substitute license with Ohio. I'd be glad to share a copy of that with anyone who'd like to see it.
