I am 24 years old and currently a Legal Assistant at a law firm in Downtown Columbus. I graduated from Columbus State in the Spring and plan to return to school to get my BSN this coming spring. My ultimate goal is to work in either the pediatric field or in the neonatal unit at a hospital. My mom has been an in-home childcare giver my entire life, so I have always loved to help her take care of children. Once I was old enough I started babysitting on my own for some of the neighborhood families, and eventually branched out to babysit for teachers, people from my church and word of mouth referrals. I have babysat children with both Down Syndrome and ADD, and I have also worked with children from troubled homes with learning disabilities. For a few weeks in the summer I work as a group guide Read more for a Vacation Bible School in a lower income area of Columbus. I currently am not watching any children on a regular basis because my work and school schedule did not allow it, and I miss it! I have babysat for all different types of families; from 4 very active boys under the age of 10, to newborns- and everything in between! I love all age groups of children, and enjoy watching children grow, learn, and explore the world around them. I think the families I have babysat for would call me a very involved babysitter, I don't like to just sit and watch movies (although once in a while that is nice), I would much rather play games and do crafts and be outside. I become very invested in the children I have babysat because I love to watch them grow up and succeed and it makes me feel awesome that I can be a part of that. I think each family, and each child is different and what works well for one child might not always be the best option for another. I like to look at each child individually and get to know them, and through that I am able to learn how to care for them the way they need.
