I am a 24 female who is currently going to school to obtain my Masters of Science in Nursing. I previously attended the University of Toledo were I received my bachelors degree in pre-med. Shortly after graduating from the University of Toledo, I started taking courses at Eastern Michigan University to receive my Masters of Science in Dietetics. I just recently moved from my hometown, Toledo Ohio, to Cleveland, this past May. My dream job is to be a pediatric nurse practitioner, specializing in oncology, emergency medicine, or neonatal intensive care medicine. I am first aid and CPR certified, I have completed the Red Cross babysitting course, and have I always been very good with kids. My father is 1 of 9, leaving me with 32 cousins. I have also babysat for three specific families for years, all having kids of different ages and needs. The first family I have continually babysat for has two girls and a boy. The girls were between the ages of 3-10 while I watched them, with the son being from the ages of 5 months to 5. Their son was also born premature and required special treatment. He had a feeding button and also needed to be hooked up to oxygen at night. The second family I have continually worked for has a daughter that they adopted from China. I started watching her from the time she was brought to the United States, 10 months old, until she was 7, still watching her from time to time when I am in town. The third family I have worked for, has a son who was 3 months when I began watching him, now he is almost 5, and has a little sister who I started caring for too. She will be 1 in a month. I have watched these two overnight and for days, while their parents have gone out of town. I still babysit for this family and I am in very close contact with them, seeing the kids every time I go home. In pursing my MSN I decided that pediatrics was my calling because I have an immense ability to be able to connect with kids, understand them, their needs, make them happy when sad or scared, play around with them, but know when discipline is needed. I possess the qualities of patience, which is needed at times when dealing with kids, I am kind, nurturing, caring, and I can get kids to understand and listen to me.
