Hi, I'm Dorothy Burnside. I'm a fourth year Middle Childhood Education major at Miami University. I can't believe that I get to pursue a career that I enjoy so much! I have such a passion for helping people, and working with children. Starting in seventh grade I worked as an Early Childhood religion class teacher at my church. Each Sunday I would teach a group of about ten 3 and 4 year old children, and I absolutely loved every minute. I sincerely looked forward to teaching every single week. More times than not, that hour and a half I got to spend with my class of toddlers would make my entire week. I loved telling my friends and family all about them, and how funny their little personalities already were at such a young age. It was then that I realized my love for children. I continued to volunteer every Read more Sunday until my junior year in high school, when the program was unfortunately terminated. Luckily I was able to babysit throughout high school, and work with children with ages ranging from 11 months to 11 years. I've worked with many different families around my hometown of Cincinnati. I really enjoy interacting with different children, and finding out about their likes, dislikes, and personalities. As someone who is getting certified in Language Arts and Mathematics education up through grade 9, I would love to help with homework as needed as well! I have extensive tutoring experience with children aged 7-15. I am always sure to come to a babysitting job prepared with some crafts, games, books, and a head full of ideas to entertain! I have a lot of experience working with kids of all ages, a huge heart, and an incredible amount of patience. Along with my babysitting experience, I have gained a much better sense of discipline and management skills throughout my education courses, field experience, and student teaching.
