Hi! My name is Melanie. I’m a senior at OU majoring in social work. I have three younger sisters and have babysat since I was about 13 years old. I also worked at an after school program for pre-k through 5th graders. Apart from being an early childhood teacher, I have also provided babysitting services on an as-needed basis, most were just hourly, some were overnight, weekly and weekend extended stays. Included duties were: cooking, cleaning, homework help/playtime, bathing the children, getting ready for bedtime. Morning duties of: waking children up, assisting to dress them, feeding them/preparing school sack lunches, and getting ready for school on weekdays, taking them to school, picking them up from school, and taking them to occasional after school activities as needed: arts & crafts sessions, soccer practice, karate. These times of childcare were neither long-term nor live-in, but were very similar to nanny-type duties in nature.
