Hi! My name is Cal. I have been working with children for over 4 years. It has always been a passion of mine. Being able to make an impact on their lives and help them learn and grow is extremely meaningful and rewarding to me. My first experience babysitting was at age 14 when I looked after two year old twins on the weekends. Some of my responsibilities were making lunch, playing outside with them, doing puzzles, and more. In high school, I took a class called Child Development, where we looked after 2-3 year olds. We would do crafts, have snack time, and engage in different play activities. I also took a class called Teaching Young Children, where we worked with 4-5 year olds for three days a week. In this class, I made lesson plans and helped teach the children math, reading, writing, science, & PE. Around this Read more time, I began to tutor a 5 year old boy who was behind in writing. We would practice identifying letters, spelling his name, and doing sight words. In addition, I babysat a 5 year old autistic boy. I would babysit him 4 days a week. During this time, we played on the trampoline, rode scooters, and put together a lot of legos builds. I also assisted his speech therapist in their sessions and I would prepare meals that fit his sensory needs. After high school, I worked at two summer camps. The first summer camp was a sleepaway camp. I was a counselor for boys ages 8-12. I guided them through various activities, such as swimming, hiking, arts and crafts, soccer, archery, and more. I also helped with serving meals, doing tuck-ins and bedtime stories, and deescalated/resolved any conflicts. My responsibilities at the second summer camp was similar, except it was a day camp instead of a sleepaway camp. Most recently, I babysat a 7 year old girl on weekend afternoons. We played with dolls, went on the sensory swing, and went on walks with their dogs. In addition to my experience with children, I also have experience with people with disabilities. In high school, I helped out in a class of students with intellectual disabilities and autism. I also minored in special education in college. I am always willing to babysit for children with special needs and I will accommodate and follow any care plans that are in place. Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and I hope you take my experience, passion for childcare, and drive to help into consideration.
